Don't rent here. The building has a huge bed bug infestation and landlord sucks.

Returned home after 2 weeks away and saw a notice on the main doors that said "Our building has reported bed bugs". I went to the landlord for clarification and he stated casually that a few units above mine and adjacent to mine on the same floor reported incidents of bed bugs and were scheduled to be sprayed. I asked for info on what I was supposed to do and he asked if I had seen anything and I stated, no, but I've been away so I wouldn't have checked thoroughly yet.

I again asked him what

preventative measures could be taken and he said "well go to sleep and if you get bitten, let me know" which is the worst response. I wanted to get my unit inspected also, and he stated "they're coming tomorrow and there's a lot of stuff you'd have to do to prepare". I had to insist on getting this preparation checklist and also informed another tenant of this. I'm not sure why the onus is on us to ask for this. If he is aware there is "a lot of stuff for us to do" to prep for spraying, why not give everyone a heads up? When I explained to him how stressful and last minute these warnings were, he seemed to suggest that because I didn't say anything or see anything, it didn't seem worth it to contact me in any way about it.

I am so horrified by this and by the landlord's lax attitude to this very serious issue.

Our building currently has a huge bed bug infestation. Gross mishandling by an incompetent building manager has resulted in a continued spread through the building and insufficient and late warning to tenants.

Building manager knew of the infestation over a week ago but tenants were only notified a couple days ago. When asked what he was planning on doing about the situation he responded "I don't know, someone is coming in to spray sometime, I don't know when. I'm waiting for them to call me

back with a time". Just found out today that pest control is not coming again for another 10 days.

Tenants are urging building manager to treat the entire building as soon as possible but he is resisting. Hallways are carpeted also and infected suites are on the top two floors so there is a high chance of spreading by walking up and down carpeted halls and stairs.

There is a current vacancy in the building that he is continuing to show and there are tenants moving out this week because of the bed bug problem. I hope potential tenants are well-informed of this issue.

Was informed yesterday that the building had reported bed bugs in a unit. Was then told that the unit was sprayed last week and the landlord did not inform or prepare anyone in the event of spread. The unit above and to the right of the infested unit learned the hard way of the problem, and now the landlord has been telling being of the bedbug incident. Landlord said he would get someone to Check the units but we have urged him to get the entire building sprayed. Time lines are ridiculous, sayin

g it'll take a week to get someone in to check the units then another week to get sprayed and then 2 more weeks for an additional check up. The landlord rented out a unit to a guy who is on government assistance and brings garbage into the building. This occurrence is beyond insane, the landlord cannot manage the building due to his mental state and age!

I do not live in the building, however I live in the building across the Alley and with in the last 6 months I have seen 3 different tenants (all coming from the same top floor suit) moving their entire life/furniture into the dumpster in the alley and one close friend who also lived in the building get them too. All of which have stated they had a very bad/large bed bug problem.

I would not recommend anyone to move into this apartment building. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE... this city has to s

tart stepping up to slum lords and fight for our rights, and rental costs to go down!

Has crazy bed bugs and an insane mouse problem. My partner and I have caught over 10 mice in the past year and are moving out this month. Do not move in here unless you want a major headache each and every day.

Have lived here for 1.5 years and had bedbugs twice. They live in the building and seem to just keep shuffling around. Had them in summer 2009 and summer 2010. Do not move in here. It's been a lot of work trying to get rid of these things twice! Now I am getting rid of almost everything I own and moving out of this hell hole.

Yes this apartment has bedbugs! They were all over my apartment, day and night even in the bathroom.

The entire place needs to sprayed and/or shut down. The landlord had the surrounding units sprayed (upstairs, downstairs and next door, all around basically) but they came back right after. They are in the walls hiding just waiting for a safe time to come back.

DO NOT MOVE IN.

this apartment building has had bed bugs before. 3 different occasions. the landlord never informed me that there has been bed bugs in the building. this spring i started to get bits and i went on line and did some research. the bites matched what i thought were bed bugs bites so i informed the landlord and he brought someone in to look around the apartment or so i thought he did. he said that there were no bed bugs. so as timed passed the bites kept getting worse and so did my sanity. i went to

the doctor thinking it was it was hives or scabies or even an allgery??? but this morning.( june 22nd 2009) i woke up and discovered a bed bug in my bed... i am sooooooo upset and should have know better that my landlord was not being honest. i also should have know better since there is always a revloving door of tenants and always mattress and couches in the alley. so please dont move into 3075 prince edward st. in vancouver
