Four days into a 8 day stay at the Blakely (third week of sept 2010), I was bitten by bed bugs. My wife called down to the front desk to report it and they said they had no issues with bugs at all but that someone from management would contact us. No one ever did and i naively gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was mosquitos or something. Upon my return, I decided to run to my dermatologist and he confirmed that my bites had indeed all the markers for bed bugs. We contacted the

Blakely and could not imagine a more miserable response from an upscale professional management firm (particularly from their general manager). They continued to deny the possibility of the presence of bed bugs despite my report and diagnosis. They say they have a fumigation report that says no infestation and that is their position period. This was communicated via the front desk manager who was quite professional so I decided to email the general manager directly to confirm that this response was indeed his position and therefore the official position of the Hotel. He called and was rude and defensive and completely without concern or remorse. To have an upscale hotel respond to a guest in such a manner with an issue of such weight with regard to a hotel choice while in NYC is seems unimaginable. It feels like someone might have passed down to thier staff that their official position is to deny deny deny. Live and learn.
