On Friday, November 12th 2010, I woke up with bites all over my legs. Upon further inspection, I found bed bugs all over my kids bedroom wall and our own. We notified management of the problem and was told we'd have to pay for extermination. According to them, they had inspected the apartment for bed bugs prior to moving yet within a week we had moved in, we found fleas in our carpet and they had to exterminate. As it came to light, the exterminator stated they had previously treated the upstair
s apartment for bed bugs and he "knew" they should've treated ours as well at the time because "bed bugs will scatter for a new home". Wednesday, November 17th 2010, the exterminator came to the apartment and treated. From what I've researched, bed bug treatments are done IN SERIES because these pests can hide and reproduce very quickly. Today, I went to management and voiced my concern after still being bitten the next two nights after treatment. She clearly stated, "not if it's done correctly". The exterminator gave instructions to vaccuum every day (which I was already doing to begin with) and wash all clothing and linens in hot water (which I was already doing). Ultimately we were waived the extermination costs not without being presented without a "Bed Bug Addendum" stating we are liable and responsible for future inspections and exterminations. Truly a nightmare experience that I've never dealt with but what doesn't cease to amaze me is how they're trying to con out of their own resposibilities with the addendum. We were planning to renew our lease but this has tipped our glass. No one will be reimbursing our son's bed, our mattress, our wasted time, mattress covers we had to purchase, and incovenience. I believe they will come back eventually without follow up treatments.
