We are members of Choice Hotels Privileges and have often stayed at Econolodge and Quality Inn all over the US. This was our first trip to Montreal and were very tired from driving for 7+ hours and arrived early morning. We were planning on taking a nap before beginning our tour of city, but our rest was ruined when my parents awoke due to rampant scratching-they got up and discovered bed bugs all over the pillows and their blood freshly stained on them.
All of us had to hurry and re-pack an
d check ourselves for bugs-my parents found some stuck to the neckline of their shirts. We told the housekeeper and she transferred us to another room to the other building. Unfortunately that room was dirty, crumbs and hairs all over the shower and fridge. Sink was so small and up against the wall that we splashed all over the floor as the sink filled up quickly.
We told the manager what happened and she would not believe us stating that the previous tenants of Room 110 "last week " had "no problems" and that she would send someone to "check on the room." All this trouble even after we told her we had photos and squished bloody bugs on napkins for proof.
Next morning upon check out, we pleaded with her for a partial discount as both the rooms given to us were so disgusting and all she said was because we used AAA membership discount she would not discount anything-as if that excuses us being bitten by bed bugs. After my parents were forced to show her their bites, she finally relented...but only to a $9.oo discount. We even asked her if anyone checked on the room yet and she just did not answer.
Absolutely deplorable conditions and piss-poor management. Apparently to reviews, the hotel was an okay Days Inn before, but then went down downhill after changing to Econolodge.
Never ran into some filth and unprofessionalism and callousness.
