I too lived in that shithole basement for 3 years

The place was run by a money hungry ole bitch, and is now under new owner that doesn't have a CLUE how to run a place

Thank god, as the sons were retared, aaron being the worst, was there the day after she died pushing us all around, just waiting for his inheritence chq.

Aaaroon the biggest ahole of the bunch.

Now its owned by a new owner that is a complete idiot, and has another bum stuck in the basement a year later that wont move,

good on you sir to stand up and know your rights t stay in that hole

It just goes to show that just cause ya have mney doesnt mean your smart as the new owner is an ahole too. The neighbor at 926 another cheapass landlord with bugs and MOLD in his building!

renovations started to convert to apt's but I feel for the new people going to pay 3000$ a month for a floor apt, as the bugs and smell will remain forever despite some 'fresh paint' lol

Good luck new owner your going to need a ton of it

DISGRACEFUL SLUMLORDS!

the whole city has bed bugs problems, if the tenants of 924 Avenue Road lived some place else, they would still have to do some preparation prior to their unit or room being sprayed for bed bugs. If you don't enjoyed or like where you are living, then move.

I reside at 924 Avenue rd. I've lived here for three years and from time to time seen bedbugs. I was given the same do it yourself treatment when I confronted the landlady. On top of that furnishings are in shambles and there's racoons that have found a new home in the attic. It's unfathomable that people should have to live like this ontop of paying rent. The landlady has passed away now and many people have left the premises. The new owner is aware of the problems and has started renovations s

ince he took over. It's already cost him thousands of dollars to fix things. He's started now from the ground up with fixing plumbing which apparently hasn't never been repaired ever since the 1920's. It's a stinken mess. Metes hope this investor cleans everything up to code from the ground up. I feel sorry for the money it's gonna cost him to fix this dump. Poor investment for him but maybe some much needed repairs for the mistreated tenants is now in site. Disgraceful!!!

New landlord knows about bedbugs. Lets see if he does anything. All floors are infested as of March 1/11.

House has now been sold 12/15/2010, and this ole lady slumlord will finally be gone and with her BOTH sons

it you want to live with bugs, then THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

house is INFESTED, beware!

If any current tenants are reading this, there are actions that can be taken to legally get the landlady to start dealing with the bugs:

From http://www.ontariotenants.ca/law/law.phtml#Q8
Q8: The landlord is refusing to make needed repairs in my apartment. How can I make the landlord carry out their maintenance obligations?

A8: If the landlord does not make repairs on your verbal request, or has a history of not making repairs, put your request in writing, including the date of the letter

, and keep a copy.

If the landlord still hasn't done the repairs in a reasonable time, then call your city Building Inspector to make an appointment for them to come out and look at the problem. If the inspector won't come then ask to speak to their supervisor. Get a copy of the inspectors report to save for your records.

If you are still having problems getting repairs done, you will want to contact the Investigation and Enforcement Unit, at 416-585-7214, or outside of the 416 calling area, toll free at 1-888-772-9277.

If problems persists, then you may want to contact your lawyer or Community Legal Clinic, City Councillor, and maybe even apply for a rent reduction on the basis of lack of repair being a reduction of services in your apartment.

Also, from Part VI (General Maintenance) of the the Residential Tenants Act:
Rodents, etc.

46. (1) A residential complex shall be kept reasonably free of rodents, vermin and insects. O. Reg. 517/06, s. 46 (1).

(2) The methods used for exterminating rodents and insects shall be in accordance with applicable municipal or provincial law. O. Reg. 517/06, s. 46 (2).

(3) Openings and holes in a building containing one or more rental units shall be screened or sealed to prevent the entry of rodents, vermin, insects and other pests. O. Reg. 517/06, s. 46 (3).

Every floor in the house is infested!!!!!!!

All the reports are true about 924 Avenue Road! That place in infested with bed bugs. I've been there three years, and it's an ongoing problem. No matter what you do, they keep coming back because the Landlady refuses to do anything about them! All the tenants did research on these pests, and told the Landlady the only way to get rid of them was to call in a professional, but she refuses to do so. I brought in brand new furniture when I moved there not knowing the bug situation. Within two w

eeks, it was all infested, and the landlady refused to replace it. I was handed cans, nine to be exact, of bug spray (poisonus) and told to use it. The toxins got into my system and made me ill. The tenants ON THEIR OWN BECAUSE THE LANDLADY WOULDN'T, have scrubbed all the furniture, walls, pictures, everything. They've taped all the cracks or filled them in, but to to avail! The Landlady doesn't believe we have them because she says she doesn't have any downstairs! The next thing we know, she has someone up there ripping up all the taping. We all live out of plastic bags - we have to keep our clothes, shoes, bed linens, etc., in them just to try and keep the bugs out. It doesn't do any good, you always find them. We get told that we have to submit a report to the Landlord Tenant complaint board, but that means nothing! There is no "law" as such to make the landlord get rid of them. You can't even go and visit anyone - these critters hitch rides on clothes, blankets, in your hair everywhere! You're probably going to take them with you, and the next thing you know, they've spread to someone else. You're afraid to move because you know they'll be going with you. As soon as I can, I'm OUTTA THERE!
The Health Department should be called in to investigate. The house is falling apart, the wiring is faulty, everything!

She's not a Landlord, she's a "S L U M L O R D"! If you're smart and looking for a place to live, DON'T GO THERE!

This place runs an ad in The Toronto Start newspaper. When I telephoned about the room for rent at this address, I was given no indication that there was a problem with bed bugs. I happened to look up the address on the internet, and thank goodness I found out before I decided to see the room which was advertised! I will not go near the place.

I LIVED IN THAT BUILDING IN 2007 AND WAS EATEN ALIVE BY BEDBUGS. THE LANDLADY DIDN\'T APPEAR TO CARE. SHE HANDED ME A CAN OF SPRAY AND A TUBE OF CAULKING AND TOLD ME TO SPRAY AND FILL HOLES!!!!!!
IF I DIDN\'T DO IT MY ONLY OTHER OPTION WAS TO HAVE HER CHALLENGED SON DO IT. THIS GUY IS COVERED IN BITES AND LIVES IN SQUALOR. NO WAY HE WAS COMING IN MY PLACE. MANY OF THE TENANTS BELIEVE HIS ROOM IS WHERE THE BUGS COME FROM SINCE IT IS SUCH A PIGSTY THERE\'S LOTS OF PLACE FOR THEM TO HIDE.

AFTER

SPENDING HOURS OF MY TIME AND A LOT OF MY OWN MONEY BATTLING THESE BUGS THEY WOULD STILL POP UP HERE AND THERE. WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT WE ALSO DIDN\'T HAVE WORKING SMOKE DETECTORS I GAVE UP AND DECIDED TO MOVE. I CALL THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BUT I DON\'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THAT.

ONE OF THE TENANTS ON THE SECOND FLOOR USED A SOLUTION OF DETOL AND TEA TREE OIL IN A SPRAY BOTTLE THAT APPEARED TO WORK BETTER THAN THE POISON SPRAYS.

IF YOU PLAN TO MOVE INTO THIS BUILDING PREPARE TO PUT UP WITH A LOT.

WE HAVE HAD AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THESE BUGS FOR MORE THAN 3 YEARS. THE LANDLADY DOES NOTHING TO DEAL WITH THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. SHE GIVES TENANTS A CAN OF SPRAY AND LETS THEM DO THE ALL WORK. SHE'S NEVERED CALL A PROFESSIONAL FOR HELP OR ADVICE JUST RELIES ON EACH TENANT TO LOOK AFTER THEIR OWN.
LANDLADY DOES NOT TELL NEW TENANTS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND YOU GET TO FIND OUT WHEN YOU WAKE UP COVERED IN BITES. ARENT THEY BY LAW SUPPOSED TO TELL PROSPECTIVE TENANTS. LANDLORD TENANTS BOARD SAI

D WE SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT.

THEY'RE IN THE WALLS, PIPES, DRAINS, UNDER CARPETS. THEY LIVE IN YOUR TV'S COMPUTER POUROUS WOOD PARTICLE BOARD FURNITURE CLOTHES. MANY OF US IN THIS BUILDING STORE CLOTHES IN PLASTIC BAGS/BINS. MATERESSES ARE COVERED IN PLASTIC. THIS IS AN OLD BUILDING WITH TO MANY CRACKS AND HOLES TO FILL. BESIDES WHY SHOULD TENANT HAVE TO DO WORK.

LANDLADY SAYS SHES OLD AND SICK SO SHE CAN'T DO IT. THAT'S A LOAD OF YOU NO WHAT.

AFRAID TO MOVE IN CASE YOU TAKE THEM WITH YOU. THEY CAN LIVE FOR MONTHS WITHOUT FOOD.
