Also, the mattress that was recently put out to the sidewalk was from the apartment of a guy that died up on the third floor. Police were here late at night talking to tenants.

I have never had a problem with bedbugs, just a few fleas. It's not surprising, though, there are several animals in the building. The current super has a habit of taking garbage out of bins by the side of the building and leaving these items laying around in the front lobby. This is a disgusting practice. He also rarely cleans, there are dog pee streams all over the carpet from his dog. The super is moving out soon and he has been taking up stuff from the basement that has been there for years

and leaving some of it around in the lobby. Garbage is garbage and if someone throws it out, there is a good reason to do so. Today the front lobby is full of things that should be bagged and taken to the side of the bldg permanently.

I think there are some bed bugs that are starting to reproduce at 50 Gloucester. I have noticed some marks on my limbs. I thought they were some kind of rash but the doctor said that they look very much like bed bug bites. I also saw someone threw out a mattress recently.

Management of this building: Please monitor and do preventive measures.

DOES anyone that lives here have bed bugs???

I've been a tenant here for a couple of years.

I haven't noticed any bedbugs myself, haven't heard of anyone else in the building having them, and also certainly didn't see any discarded mattresses or notes asking if any other tenants had bugs.

I also live here and have yet to see a bed bug. A superintendent who does nothing, yes, but no bed bugs.

To you people "confirming" there are no bed bugs in your apartment building. You cannot do this without inspecting all the units. Presence of bed bugs can be confirmed with one (or more) positive cases, but one or more negative cases cannot prove anything.

Many people are in denial about bed bugs. You may be among them. Unless the original poster is just lying about everything. But his report sounds credible, and he refers also to very suspicious publicly available information: discarde

d mattress followed by a request for tenants to report if they have had any problem.

I live on the ground floor of this building for 2 years. I can confirm that there are NO Bedbugs. Yes, like all old buildings, you can get some ants and stuff, but not to a point where you can call it 'pests' or 'infestation'.

This is primarily a community type building and one of the few that actually has grass, trees and a lawn yard behind and beside and in front of the building. Many individuals have lived here for years and are 'clean conscious'. Yes, some students reside here for the ye

ar, but management and superintendents have been good about who has lived in this building.

I agree that the person who first wrote about Bed Bugs initially had some of us, me included, scared with his/her tactics! However, that being said, after a month of monitoring, you can ask anyone and everyone about the condition of this building.

Its a great location, great atmosphere, friendly tenants but no one is in your personal business (too busy with their own lives really). I will be leaving because of a change in my living arrangements which requires a larger space. If this building had a bigger space, I would not leave!!!

So, please disregard the initial nasty comment by the frustrated person who made a false claim below. It is JUST NOT TRUE! No Bed Bugs here.

Comment:

Bedbugs have nothing to do with cleanliness. Washing sheets will not stop them. Bedbugs do not live on linens, but in bedframes/box springs/cracks and crevices.
If you are the superintendent, you need to inform yourself about bedbugs, instead of spreading misinformation. Check the Toronto Public Health Website for information for landlords on treating for bedbugs.

I am a resident here, and I am confirming that this section should be flagged, because there are NO bedbugs at this location.

The person who wrote the initial post seems to be upset over some unknown issue (Especially targeting the new management. Perhaps he doesn't like change?).

He seems to be suggesting that I am the prime cause of bedbugs; yet there are none in my (actually quite clean) ground floor apartment (which actually, contains myself and my pets. Nobody else), nor have any spre

ad here.

Perhaps if he has bedbugs, he may want to consider washing his sheets from time to time?

28 May 2009: Well, they finally arrived. The former Superintendant and his spouse were here for close to 10 years~ so they ensured that this place remained clean and had pest control at least once a month. They also ensured that the people who moved in were not 'drifters'. Students were welcome but within reason.

Since their sudden departure (a loss for many of us) it took forever for Management to get their act together and hire someone full time. Although the new couple are "nice" (althou

gh no people skills and definitely not "personable" who "writes everything on a board"), the time gap allowed 'drifters', students who would have 6 people living with them in a 250sq ft space. Its no wonder our once clean building has now been hit.

Just this week, a mattress has been binned outside and a sign has been posted 'asking' if we have any pests as pest control will be coming in to the units that make a complaint. This defeats the purpose of ridding the problem! Pest Control should hit EVERY APARTMENT to prevent further infestation! For Goodness Sake we are only 3 levels!

I have found a few now in my apartment. I have spoken with other tenants who have seen it in their apartments. This covers All 3 floors of our tiny building.

I have friends who have told me horror stories and reading the stories on this site is enough to know that if the new Superintendant couple does not take care of this, many (who I have spoken with in the building) including myself, will move and ensure that everyone on this board, university students and other community locals know about it.
