August 2011
Found one Bedbug in my apartment, and the building manager called the control company with in the hour. The building manager provided great resources for me and showed me how to prepare for the spray. I am sure there was only one bug in the whole place, but never the less the building manager is on top of everything.
Excellent job by management and excellent place to live.

For the last inquiry, yes you are correct. There were b/bugs on the 7th floor. It was brought in via a USED FURNITURE they got. Imagine, in the 137 Isabella Newsletter given to all tenants 2x per year, I warn tenants not to purchase used furniture, clothes etc. because of b/bugs, but I guess the deal is too good to give up. Even notices were posted by the elevator in the lobby about bedbugs.
The used chair they got was thrown out immediately and broken down into pieces at the front so no one co
uld take it. On the second visit by Magical Pest Control, they noticed one b/bug in the chesterfield- so the tenant decided to have it disposed of the same day- great! With my input, they had it 'bagged in plastic' in their apartment as not to spread the b/bugs in the hall, then the c/field was taken away from the building by a private mover-hence no one could pick it up from the front of the building and bring it back in. Every time I hear of those nasty pests, I take IMMEDIATE action.
All you have to say is, "Bedbugs" and the call is put into Magical Pest Control-immediately- not only for 1 treatment, but follow ups as well. You will know if they are in your 'block' as you will get a notice from me saying we are spraying. Yes,we do Up, down, side to side gets it - regardless if you have seen them or not. Prevention comes first.

I am weary to report this, because I like the landlord of this building, and I think he tries his best to keep the building clean.
But, I do know that someone on the 7th floor had their unit treated for bedbugs recently.
I didn't even know this building had a problem with bedbugs until a couple of months ago when a friend referred to to this site.
The only reason I am reporting this is because tenants in the building are never told of the problem with any tye of posting. And I feel tena
nts have a right to know if there are bedbugs anywhere in the building.

TJ, you are correct. There was a truck at the building for a tenant who 'claimed' they had bedbugs. Actually, in a series of treatments for this apartment- NO bed bugs found- but then they elected to have the heat treatment done themselves and pay for it. Usually if a tenant claims they have bedbugs, you can see: live ones, babies and or eggs. Again, no evidence of bedbugs found. Actually Magical Pest Control did the treatment and I have it in writing from them...no bedbugs found. Odd eh? and y
ou would think that if they had them, the apartments around this one would have them also- No they don't as these were also inpspected by Magical Pest Control-NO evidence found. Those who have bedbugs and report it, prompt action is taken to prevent it from spreading and we do a complete 'block' of apartments to ensure that it is handled properly. I had to even take a bed bug course myself to learn about the pests, treatments etc. TJ as you know, our building is kept VERY clean. Most of the buildings in downtown Toronto have had their fair share of bedbugs. Our building is also on a monthly maitenance program with pest control to ensure that the building stays clean. (maybe thats why you have seen the truck a couple of times) If a tenant visits someone else-out of the building- who has bedbugs, but does not know, they can be transported on clothing. In the cases I have seen, they have been brought into the building via: on 'guests' clothing, on a sweater bought in a used clothing store, in a cardbords box that was brought into the building, a used chair that was purchased at a garage sale. Unfortunately, you never know- Thanks TJ for your report.

I saw the a truck at his building that I have seen around before that carries out heat remediation treatments in apartments where the bedbug infestation is serious. I seen them carrying the equipment out of the truck and into the building.
This is usually not a good sign as it means the infestation. People need to be aware because if you get bedbugs you will have to through almost everything away.

I live on the 3rd floor and I have been told that there is in infestation of bedbugs on the 4th floor. I just hope the problem is being taken care off.

Nothing to date as of April 2011. No complaints. Management treats each vacant apartment before it is rented as preventative maintenance and gets a written report from pest control company.

First floor 'one' apartment had bed bugs. Reported by tenant on the day it was detected. Management had pest control in right away to fumigate the 'primary apartment' Also apartments above and beside done as well even though no sign of b bugs Also primary unit was done a second time as preventative maintenance. No evidence of bed bugs present on 2nd visit as per pest control company report. All ok now.
Tenant on 11/03/2010
Some ground floor apartments have bedbugs as of October 2010.

The person in another apartment close to me had bedbugs, Wow! (in July 09) I did not excpect this surprise. I asked the tenant where they came from and they had friends over...well bed bugs travel on peoples clothing. (plus used furniture or bed mattresses as I have done research on this) They reported it to management and management in 2 days did the apartment that had them, plus my apartment + others. This building is very clean, so they don't like any action of bugs and management is very fa
st on the booking the pest company.

They're Back!
Bed bugs in at least two units as of May, 2009
roxy on 02/11/2009
Had bedbugs, management was very prompt to get pest control company in right away. They also did surrounding units so they did not travel.
All good! Have not seen them since.
