Hey Smudgeman,
The main floor of that hotel also rents the rooms out to people that travel with their pets.
It was probably flea bites and not bed bug bites, I have stayed at this hotel at least 50 times (no joke I go there for business) and I have never seen a bed bug or have I received one single bite.

I was at hotel in the room just beside the office. i stayed there on sept 9/2010. i did not see anything or feel anything but the next day when driving home, i started getting itch in my upper leg area. i had about 20 bites in the patterns and sizes i have seen on the internet. this was the only hotel i stayed in on this trip.
