I started staying at the Value Place in November,2009. In June, 2010, I was asked to move down the hall from where I was because "it was now a non-smoking room." I asked how soon they wanted me to move and was told asap so I moved the same day they asked. Sometime in August, I started getting spots on my legs, arms and hands that would itch really, really bad. I went to see my family physician in Sept and he gave me an ointment for Eczema but the itching wouldn't stop. Late October, 2010, I
woke up and turned my light on and seen a bug crawl across my pillow. I thought nothing of it and went on about my day. A few days later, I woke up and saw another bug on my pillow so I picked my pillow up and sure enough there was more than one bug. I went down to the office immediately and reported this. They sent a maintenance man and maid up to check my room and they inspected the bed and said they needed management to my room immediately and that I had bed bugs. I was instructed to go down and speak to management. When I went down, I was told yes I do have bed bugs in my room and I need to leave the hotel asap and could not return and that I must've brought the bugs there. Now that I thought about all this, I told them back in June when I was instructed to move rooms it was probably because there were bed bugs at my end of the hall and instead of telling me this, they had me move rooms and lied to me by saying this was now a non-smoking room. They would not confirm that was the truth but said I had to leave the hotel. I had to throw 75% of my personal belongings away and what I did save had to be bagged up and washed in very hot water and put in the dryer.
