About a month ago I noticed that my daughter was breaking out in a strange rash all over her hands, arms, feet, and legs. She has just turned one so I thought she was having an allergic reaction to some food. I took her to see the doctor and diagnosis was target lesions that could be due to on onset of a viral infection. went home didn't think much about it and indeed my daughter came down with a viral infection. It wasn't until 2 weeks after that my 5 year old stepson had the same rash and
was taken to the doctor and his mother was advised it looked like bedbug rash. We immediately checked our daugters bed and sure enough it was infested with bed bugs. all of the wall hangings surrounded by her bed were all infested. we immediately discarded her matteress and the wall hangings and ripped up the carpet. I immediately called my landlord and all he would offer is alcohol spray and DE. My landlord did not offer to exterminate as he clearly stated "we are not liable to pay for an extermination as we have never had any complaints for bed bugs regarding this residence and there is no way to tell how they got in" I reviewd this information online and sad to say it but landlords are not liable. The residence is a 3 family home and I also notfied the other tenants. To my knowledge they do not have them. I am doing my best to fight the bed bugs as extermination is a cost I cannot afford. The bed bugs are in my bedroom and living room. It is my opinion that they were there to begin with when I moved in. I had terminix come in for a free inspection and spoke with the landlord's wife in advance before terminix was to arrive. I advised her that I was having them come and wanted to give him/her the option to come as well as at tne end of the day this is still their property. Niether one showed up. I will be moving when my lease is up. I would not recommend moving in as I cannot afford to have the place exterminated. I am doing my best to battle them myself and the bugs will still be there when I leave. I can only hope that the next occupant will check this website when there prizley posations become infested with bugs and then it will be the landlords reponsibility to treat the place. What I don't understand is why if you own a place wouldn't you want to exterminate or help with the cost to exterminate? Why would you want your tenants to live like that? Why wouldn't you want to protect your property?
