If you're living in a regular apartment building (or a multi-family dwelling of -I think- more than 4 families), your landlord is required to pay for treatment, regardless of who brought the bedbugs. Call 311.

In September of 2010 we spotted a bunch of them in one room of the apartment. We taped some of them up to be able to provide a sample to an inspector who came in the next day. He said, yup, bed bugs it is. This is a house, with two apartments in it. When we went to warn our neighbors about our problem we were told that this address has had bed bugs before, but it was not reported and nothing was treated. Now we're in the process of preparing for extermination by a reliable company (our land lord
