bed bugs x 3 episodes, management doesnt care, landlord doesnt care. city doesnt care. this building is so infested that the only thing that would help...is tearing it down completely and building a new one. if city cared, it would close down the building because its a safety hazard

It is true this building is infested with bedbugs. I have caught over 40 bedbugs in the past 10 weeks here.
Complained to landlord several times. He sent an exterminator once (just for the unit I'm in). The exterminator did the walls, baseboards and whatever outlets he could uncover.
None of it worked. There are now more bedbugs than before. They hide in the cracks in the floor, and still appear even in the places where the pesticide was laid (walls, baseboards, sockets).
Rumor has it t
hat an apartment in the building was sealed once due to infestation. If that's true, it means that the bedbugs got to spread and multiply unchecked.
As previous people have noted, it seems that the management does not care to put any effort into this building. It is not maintained properly and has a bad odor throughout.

This building has been bedbugs infested since the spring of 2008. Since that time until 2009 absolutely nothing was done by the management despite numerous complaints from the tenants of the building. Management avoided talking to the tenants, never responded on voice mail. In 2009 multiple tenants filed a report with the city by calling 311. Management responded with a low cost resolution letting super of the building spraying apartments. It did not work. Finally in late 2009-2010 professional
company was hired and bedbug issue was eliminated.
2011 the issue is back!!!
Please be advised this issue was never confined to a single apartment.
Bedbugs spread only because management did not do anything for years.
Several tenants had to move out and throw out all their furniture due to the issue.

Call 311, report this to the the City Department of Buildings, and tell them to force the building owner to do something. Also, put dead bugs that you might find into ziplock bags as evidence when inspectors come to visit. You must make an appointment in advance for a certain date for the inspectors to come and visit. Last, if the landlord takes no conclusive action the city can forcibly send in its own externmination unit to clean out the whole building and bill the building owner for the cost.
You may also want to consider getting a lawyer to find out your legal options. It is tough right now, but in the long run this will be just a blip in your life. Good luck to you and all the tenants in your building.

i am a renter in this building, for 13 years now, and i know exactly who posted this. YES, we did have a bedbug issue in this building once, in late 2009, but it was confined to ONE apartment, until YOU - the previous poster (yes, you know who you are), took furniture from infested apartment and brought it inside yours, thus further spreading bedbugs. You lied, but was caught on building's surveilance cameras doing so, and you were forced to pay for your own bed bug remediation, and now you'r
e venting, spreading lies. Grow up and accept responsibility for your silly actions.
