We have bedbugs in our apartment and have heard that they were elsewhere in the building (about 6 months ago, our next door neighbor heard that the apartment underneath hers had them). My boyfriend found a couple under the mattress, along with fecal stains. We told the super and he had us call a PCO that the building has a contract with right away; we were treated within a week. A second treatment is happening in 2 weeks, and it sounds like we may be pre-approved for a third as well. So, the goo

d news is the landlord seems to be pretty responsive and prepared to pay for treatment. (We haven't paid for any of the treatment). The exterminator seemed reasonably competent, although not very personable or helpful in terms of making recommendations about what to do next. The building is older (built in the 1930s I think), so there are probably a lot of nooks and crannies for them to hide in. I do think it is reasonably well maintained. I think a lot (or all) of the building is rent stabilized, so apartments get "renovated" whenever someone moves out. Thus, people who've been here for years may have apartments that are more in need of repairs. We've only been here for about 4 years. The super and his wife are very good.
