I have been living in this building for 2 years and had a bed bug problem since then.we will get rid of them and they'll be back in couple of months again. never ending battle. super does not respond right away and he give us spray bottles that don't help. when I asked him if any other people report about bed bugs he said:" You are the only one". He lied to me(2011).

We have been dealing with bed bugs since January 2011 (now end of April). Avoid this building at all costs. Although management has an exterminator, he does an inadequate job--we ended up hiring our own and have spent over $1000 trying to get rid of them. But, since they are all over the building, it is an uphill battle.

We have had the BB’s here in this building,6925 4th Ave, for almost six years now. In the very beginning the super wanted no part in getting rid of this vermin & neither did the landlord. Reports were put in to the board of health & 2 inspectors actually came over & it was documented that tenants were being bitten alive by the BB’s. Initially I had to get my own private exterminator & pay for them. It was made clear to me by these exterminators, that unless the entire building was exterm
inated properly, we were not going to get rid of these bugs & I would keep on being re-infested. A group of tenants got together & finally we convinced management & the super that the whole building was in trouble & we needed to be exterminated. At this time the building exterminator (who really only sprayed for roaches), got involved & every MONTH my apartment was “FOGGED” with this poison. This went on for months & each time the mess didn’t get any easier to clean. Also, you have to stay out of the apartment for at least five hours each time it is treated & many of the tenants don't want to be bothered with this on an on-going basis! Well – this year (2009) - we have a new exterminator who SPECIALIZES in treating BB’s & they drill four–inch holes in all the walls throughout the apartment & then shoot poison powder into the walls. They also “FOG” the apartment. Within two weeks they do a follow-up of the”FOGGING” & spraying of your furniture, including, couch, chairs, mattress & box spring etc. I can only hope this will eradicate these BB’s once & for all.

I think I am going to cry.
I just started moving my stuff into this building.
I got an amazing deal on a nice 1 BR in the building for only 800 bucks.
Now I am thinking it was so cheap because the previous tenant moved out because of an infestation.
I have met the super and he seems like a really good guy.
But now that I mention it, when I was bringing my first boxes in last night, he was putting mattresses to the curb.
Fuck.

601 surf avenue has bedbugs. I've spent more than $1500 on Orkin's services to clean my apartment. After 3-4 months we got them again somehow. I guess I had to clean the whole building at my expense(23 floors)Management totaly ignore our request to disinfect the whole building. I guess my next step would be to report to NY dept. of health.

Hi anonymous, she moved out but I'm sure there are still bed bugs at that location. I have passed the building and have seen tons of furniture being thrown out with labels such as "chinches" written on the furniture. "Chinches" is the Spanish word for bed bugs.

After reading the other story I knew I had to write and mention that I too went through the beg bug situation the most horrible experience in MY LIFE!
I thought I was losing my mind and my boyfriend at the time felt that way too but then I would see them around the bed on the walls, on the cracks of the walls, btween the sheet you name it. The Super was wonderful. He was there always ready to assist and step in when we needed him. I haven\'t been in that apartment for quite sometime nor will
I ever but I have to disagree about the Super Nori because he was always there ready to spray and help when I needed him.
it\'s been a while since I\'ve seen the bug but I was bitten so bad on my legs, chest, buttocks, breasts etc. Never in my life have I ever experienced such horror and pray to god I never do again

I started getting bites on my ankles and wrists. At first I thought they were mosquito bites since they itched me, but I happened to mention it to the exterminator and he suggested it was bed bugs. He said all I had to do to get rid of them was spray my mattress with alcohol and seal it with a vinyl mattress protector. Well he was wrong. The problem worstened even after having my apartment and the apartment next door (C7) which was reported to have bedbugs a year previous bombed. We had special
powder put down around the entire apartment, and still no change. I was being biten every night and after numerous reports to the super, exterminator, nothing happened. The apartment was bombed every month, and powder put down throughout the apartment, however the bedbugs still remained. My mother wrote letters to the management agency and the landlord but nothing was ever done. Eventually she contacted some people down at the Department of Health, but an inspector was never sent down. It got so bad that I decided to move out, however, my mother still lives there. After I left, the bedbugs which were only living in my room moved to her bedroom and now she experiences the same hell that I went through when I lived there. In addition, other apartments in the building have also reported infestations, although nothing has ever been done by management to correct the problem. Whatever you do, don't move to this apartment building. It's filthy and poorly managed and hardly ever taken care of. Don't waste your money paying high rent for poor conditions. Once you get bedbugs they never leave. I can't stress the amount of pain and disgust I went through living with these things. When I moved I basically had to leave everything behind and clean all of my clothes and professionally dry clean most of them just to get rid of these damned things. Not an enjoyable thing.
