Followup on earlier report. Turns out this building has had this problem for years. The landlords/management company keeps spraying away with pesticides. Probably another example of owners perfectly fine with doing the minimum required by law and never actually eradicating the bugs. Actually the month we found out the whole block's street was lined with discarded furniture. No one seems to have any real desire to fix the problem as it would take concerted effort, time and money.

Nov. 2009 - bedbugs discovered after vaguely suspicous itching complaints - in couch, rug (discarded), then bed.
Nov. 30 - 1st of 3 unsuccessful treatments with "green" company - didn't work, and had a buggy excruciating holiday.
Jan.12 - after several vain attempts, got green co. to treat for 3rd time, still didn't work, so employed poisonous stuff landlord paid for (had to sign statement saying they weren't liable for any future respiratory diseases!) 2 treatments from them, bedbugs back
with a vengeance. Gave notice March 1st, we're moving April 1st.
