I am sorry about any past pest issues anyone has had. I can only address the issues since we have taken over the buildings, but I can promise we are doing our best to address any concerns anyone has.
This is a letter that we have sent out to Tenants recently about the work we have been doing:

Dear Residents,
As you may have noticed, the CAPREIT team has been working diligently to address any pest issues encountered since taking over management of Harbour View. Our process has included hirin

g a reputable and proven organization to take the site through a pro-active process of investigation and treatments. Each suite has been extensively examined by specialized canine unit and where any pests were found the suite is being treated with the best solutions that are available. We also treat the block of suites around the issue to stop the spread of any problems. At the 21 day mark, after a treatment, we re-treat if necessary and at 45 days we will once again engage the canine unit to look for any remaining trouble spots. Our treatments carry a one year guarantee and with the assistance and cooperation of all of our residents we soon hope to be certified pest free by our specialists. There are many other smaller tactics being undertaken to address pest issues, so rest assured we are going above and beyond to make Harbour View a place everyone wants to come home to.
If you would like to report a concern, please do so in order for us to address your issue immediately before it becomes a wider problem. Also, if desired by our residents, we will hold an education session with an expert on pest control to address any concerns you might have and to extend tips on how we can work as a community to create a clean and comfortable environment for everyone. If you are interested in attending one of these sessions please contact us at HarbourViewSuggestions@capreit.net or drop in to the office.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely,
CAPREIT Management

Hi there. I don't want the previous posts to care anyone. I just moved into the 14th floor and have had NO issues. Management is new the building is now owned by a huge company CapREIT and they are putting millions of dollars into the buildings. Before moving in I had requested to have all the carpet replaced with plank flooring, it was done. The entire apartment was renovated and once I moved in, I had a few other minor requests (recaulking, shower and outlet repairs) and the maintenance crew w

as on it withing 24 hours. They've been nothing but fantastic. No bed bugs or bugs of any sort in my apartmnent. They are gutting every floor basically and cleaning up BIG TIME. For the location and space in my 2 bedroom with an amazing view of the harbour, it's a great place to live for those on a budget. DT is always a rougher area to live, just be smart! No complaints here.
CAPREIT is working hard to rid the bad reputation, and I figure I'd say something positive since everyone here is bashing the building from the past.

Lived there for two years and had no problems (apart from the odd mouse), then suddenly in spring 2011 both myself and my girlfriend started to get bites, we had to endure 6 months of this and even compeltely section off one bedroom of our two bedroom apt before we finally could afford to move. When we left we had to dump 2 couches, all bed clothes and an expensive mattress and base. The maintenace people did the best they could to help us but its an epidemic there. We are glad to be rid of the

place.

July 1st/ 2012
I moved out last month and lived there for a year on the 5th floor. i did not have a bed bug issue but other people in all 3 buildings have had issues. We did have coachraoches everywhere! and no matter how many times they sprayed they kept coming. They also suck at maintence , we've had a hole in the bathroom from mold that I even fixed myself because as much as we would complain to them and try to get them to fix it they never came.. Don't live here! it sucks

To the people below who commented saying this place is a nice place to live and you havent had any issues, you are 100% in denial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These places are absolutely disgusting and yes there issues in other building the only difference is is they take action. And trust me I've done my research as I fought with Transglobe in tenancy court after leaving after seven months and three of those months trying to get help from the staff there and no one did a thing!!

Anyone who says this

place is a nice place to lives I'm sorry to say disgusts me! I have never experienced anything like I did living in these complexes, I wish I would have done my research before moving in! These buildings should be closed the hell down!

And again to the people "who just love the view, and think its such a nice place to live"-keep thinking that as your body evetually gets scared, or you have friends over and you have cockroaches running everywhere, or bedbugs crawling up the back of your couch, or you hear the mice in the walls, suffer from sleep issues because you dont want to sleep!!!!!!!

By far the worse experience of my life! And if you call that a "nice" place to live you need your head checked!! Because all of the Ocean Towers buildings have issues with these just read!!!!!

DO NOT MOVE IN THESE BUILDINGS-WISH I COULD SHUT THEM THE HELL DOWN!!!!!! I HATE YOU TRANSGLOBE AND IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN I COULD COUNTERCLAIM MY HEARING I WOULD HAVE FOR THE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS I LEFT LAYING IN THE MIDDLE OF MY APARTMENT (THAT I JUST WANT TO ADD MY SUPER WANTED WHEN LEAVING ALL OF MY STUFF IN A PILE, AND I MEAN EVERYTHING BUT THE CLOTHES OF MY BACK, WANTED TO KNOW IF SHE COULD TAKE SOME THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXACTLY WHY THEY DONT GET RID OF THESE ISSUES BECAUSE IT IS NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY!!

OCEAN TOWERS IS DIRTY AND TRASHY!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my wife moved into 2309 Brunswick in January 2011. We asked about bedbug issues, and they said that they were aware of problems in the past, but that there have been no active cases for quite some time.

Stupidly, we moved in anyways. After our third month, we started to get bites. We were in denial for a few weeks (as we couldnt find any of the typical signs of bedbugs) but soon we found our first live bug.

The building reps are very good at having spraying done, and we had mul

tiple sprays done in our townhouse. after the 3rd or 4th spray (not including spraying i did on my own), the problem subsided, and we were clear for about 4-5 months.

I woke up this morning with a plethora of bites on my back. So it is clear the bugs have returned. we learned that our dirty neighbours are infested, which is where they came from in our case.

This building is beyond infested, and is beyond being fixed...

And this doesnt even mention that we have been infested by German cockroaches for our entire year of staying at Ocean Towers. Have even had mice that eat our cat's food (i watched one do this while i was watching TV! sneaky buggers).

This building should be shut down due to health concerns and properly dealth with. It has cost us hundreds of dollars just doing our laundry and linens, and buying cleaning supplies. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE.

Ocean towers is INFESTED with PESTILENCE and VERMIN!! If you sleep there you will wake up with DOZENS of ITCHY, PAINFUL, DISGUSTING BITES ALLLLLLL over your body. People who say Ocean Towers is a nice, clean place to live are in OBVIOUS DENIAL! You will lose your furniture and anything that can't be washed in an INDUSTRIAL HEAT producing washer machine. Ocean Towers is the TRIFECTA of filthiness and just some of the pests include BEDBUGS, COCKROACHES, AND RODENTS. Even up on the 16TH floor they

are infested. Which can only mean one thing... The entire building must be riddled with them. The so-called "Management" at Ocean (SLUM) Towers WILL NOT reimburse you for lost possesions to these INFESTATIONS. ALSO they screw you around when trying to book your apartment for a CHEMICAL SPRAYING (WHICH IS HARMFUL TO PETS AND HUMANS) giving you wrong dates and times or not even showing up at all. So this is my WARNING to all of you out there who are thinking "Hmmm Ocean Towers can't really be that bad can it?" Well think again people, this place will wreak EMOTIONAL and PHYSICAL HAVOC on you. No one wants to be physically scarred for life right? Well the bed bug bites are SO itchy it's INSATIABLE leading you to scratch THROUGH YOUR SKIN leaving you PERMANENTLY DISFIGURED! I IMPLORE you people to please listen to this post. No one should go through the LIVING HELL which we had to experience this past year at Ocean Towers. Cause what EXACTLY are the odds of you moving in there to a pest free apartment? Don't take the chance people. STAY AWAY FROM OCEAN TOWERS!!!!!!!!

I am a current tenant of ocean towers and have been for over 3 years. Never have I had an issue with bugs or seen one. I would advise people who are concerned about bugs to contact other potential rental places as they are a problem in every building. They are in the movie theaters and in the pubs downtown... I've spoke to some bartenders and they said they've had issues with the pests for years. ocean towers is a great place to live, the supers are great, they are very helpful. highly recommend

ocean towers to any new renters. They have great prices and its really its own community.

I live in 2309 Brunswrick St and everything was OK when I moved in( Sep 1st ) I found these bugs around Feb and I am .... still fighting with them...but the good thing is I WILL MOVE OUT ON SEP!!!!!!!

I moved into Ocean Towers almost a year ago and I have had no issues with bed bugs. I moved into the building having heard that they did have an issue with them in the past (WHO HASN'T) but they assured me they are very aggressive in terms of pest control. I Love the view and I love the building. Im very happy I didn't let what I read online deter me. Looking forward to another year here

I found a bedbug about a month ago, after waking up to 10's of bites every morning and not knowing what the hell was going on. I immediately called my super and she handed me a sheet that says the building is having a problem with bedbugs. My apartment has been sprayed twice, I vacuum every inch of this apartment daily, and I still wake up with bites. I'm so sick of this place.

My son (in the Navy) moved into Apt. 1401 at 2309 Brunswick St and after signing the lease got the gift. Bedbugs. They sprayed. They go. They come back. I'm visitng in July - one bite and look out.

I had signed the lease before moving in, and took a large financial hit when I moved out. Ths first night, it was fine. The second night, I was eaten alive. The third night, I slept out on a sidewalk somewhere, with a sleeping bag. Torturous!

But I found this campaign:

wehatetransglobe@gmail.com

and I feel better about my life (they are collecting stories about people screwed over by Transglobe so they can shape a campaign against the company directly, hopefully warn more people agains

t renting there. Send them your stories by email!)

I moved into Ocean Towers on Gerrish ST, off of Brunswick Street, and the first night there were cock roaches EVERYWHERE, mostly in the Kitchen! After 2 weeks of being there, we realized there were bed bugs too! We complained everyday and it took 3 weeks to finally get the place sprayed which did NOTHING! Thank god I never signed the LEase and left after a month of living in hell!
No human should have to live in those conditions and it is discusting how the people who work there

act like nothing is wrong and deny the truth!

I discovered these nasty critters this week. Discovering the actual bugs explains the rash my wife has had for over a month now. Bed bugs have been and issue in Ocean Towers now for a couple of years and I had believed that they were only and issue in the 2 other towers and not mine. Now I know that this is a issue with all of the buildings. This compounded with the fact that we have been fumigated twice for cockroaches and they are still very plentyful.
This is the last straw for us, we are g

etting fumigated then moving, hoping that our stuff can be saved that way/

They were everywhere! My building manager told me that its a rare thing and no one really gets them anymore. Come to find out tenants in Tower 2 had entire floors getting sprayed for the bugs. My apartment got sprayed 3times in one month and they still weren't gone. Had to move out and throw out all my furniture. I guess bed bugs are beyond common in Ocean Towers. YUCK!
