12 YR Tenant on 01/31/2010
It started with Apt.6 Summer 2008 bringing out a couch at midnight that alerted us that something was wrong. We were told the next day by the tenants brother that there were bugs in the couch & everyone was getting bit. Looked it up & fleas & bed bugs were listed as living & breeding in furniture. We didn't know they were even real. We had been at the location for years & years with no bed bug problems. The tenant never told anyone including the landlord about the bugs. A few months went by and
we didn't hear anything else. Our kids were getting bit with these huge bites and I was feeling itchy constantly with bites on my legs. We kept washing the bedding in case the fleas had made a come back. Our cat was playing with something late at night as I was going to bed and that's when I confirmed that bed bugs were real we caught it trying to run away. We had never seen a bug that looked like that before. We contacted management & he confirmed with the neighbor across the hall that she had them in her apartment and her friend downstairs too. Eventually he had Atlantic treat the neighbor where it originated, the neighbor underneath her, and us twice because by the time they came we had found 4 bugs but they didn't find one themselves or any infestation in our apartment. We got rid of 85% of our lifes belongings just in case but the neighbor keeps all of her infested items until they MAKE her get rid of them one item at a time since the fall of 2008 therefore they are always breeding. Management does not inform new tenants of the problem. If you don't happen to see one you don't get treatment. Nor did they treat with a maintenance plan when we were there. They treated as they heard someone had saw one. We finally got out of there bug free in September 2009 as they were just starting to treat the other 2 apartments again. The only thing that saved us was constant monitoring, getting rid of most everything we owned, keeping everything in trash bags & loads of DE diamceous earth food grade put it every crevice of the apartment.
