There is another infestation as of January 10, 2011. The caretaker was notified. I requested immediate action to contact exterminator.

We have been living at "The Fleetwood" for 7 months. We were notified of a fumigation of the whole building that was scheduled two days after returning from the long weekend in May. We were told that a suite in the basement was found to have a massive infestation and they would be spraying the whole build as a "percautionary measure".
Many in the building's tenants were out of town and returned to this short notice of two days to pack up all their belongings (wash and bag all clothing and ma
terial items, move all furniture, bag books, remove wall hangings and find alternate accomodations if sensitive to the spray. ie small children, pets or health issues. All in the building were asked to follow the check list and comply with the preparations in order to make the fumigation of the whole building possible and effective by eliminating the bed bugs completely.
This caused the tenants in the building to go into purging mode and the back dumpster was over flowing with perfectly good items ie. vaccums, furniture, clothing and beds. We lost over one thousand dollars worth of our stuff due to fear of possible infestation, had the cost of washing and drycleaning, cleaning supplies/steam machine and had to take time off work (resulting in the loss of my job) to prepare for the fumigation and having to take our pets and vacate the building.
The pest control company came back for a second spray two weeks later and we never heard anything else from the Rental Agency on the issue and the the pest control company did not return for any follow up.
About two weeks later I awoke with bites all over my body and found a bed bug under the mattress, we put in a jar and immediately took it to the building Caretaker. It was then that we were notified that our suite (2nd floor) had shown possitive signs of infestation upon the first spray, when asked why this was not divulged to us she said that many suites tested positive and that we should call the pest control company directly for further instruction/information. Their contact information and follow up information was never initially provided.
When we called the pest control company, they verified that yes, our suite showed minimal signs of activity and that this was all listed in their report provided to the Rental Agency. When we explained that we were never shown a report or given any information, he seemed shocked and said that he would check with the Rental Agency to see if they could provide us with a copy of the report. We were not suprised to get the call later that day stating that he was denied permission to send us that report.
We have not had not been advised of anything since or experienced any activity.
Our lease came up for renewal and we have chosen to re-locate. We just subletted our suite last week for the last month of our lease, expecting the rental agency to divulge the past issues to their chosen applicant, I am not sure if this was done and we let the Caretaker know today that they need to advise the new tenant as we woke with several bites and found multiple bed bugs(of various size)in the suite again this morning!
The care taker notified me that that the building may never be clear of this issue as several tenants refused to allow fumigation of their suites from the begining.
This has been an exhausting nightmare, expensive and embarrasing. We are a clean, professional couple and have been forced to throw out 70% of our belongings. We were not given any information or feedback from the Rental Agency on this issue and there has been no follow up to date.
We will now move to our new place with fear that we will contaminate it with what little we have left and are sick at the thought that the new tenant will not be aware of this issue. We would prefer to just break our lease then afflict this on anyone! I have posted signs all over the building in hopes to keep everyone in the building aware of the situation...an action that the Rental Agency should be tending to.
We understand that there is an outbreak of bed bugs in the city right now but do not feel as though this situation was handled well as it should have been and there was a severe lack of communication, information and compensation from the Rental Agency in regards to this property infestation.

May 2010, went to check out an apt at this location and was advised spraying had just been done. The caretaker was honest and told us right away but said it would be sprayed again soon. They seemed to be taking care of the issue and were straight up, but hearing that was enough for me to walk away.
