Within the first month of living here I realized that the building had a SEVERE pest issue. I caught a mouse and was killing upwards of 10 roaches a day. I notified everyone I could of the problem. I had multiple people in my apartment trying to fix the problem. Here I am, 5 months later, stuck in an apartment where I can pretty much count on stepping on a roach on the way to the bathroom in the dark. About a month ago I started receiving small bites all over my hands. Imagine my delight. I had
taken all the precautions I could and I STILL got bedbugs. After both the owner and building manager reassured me that there had never been a case of bed bugs in the building, i was ever so surprised to find this website. Im fighting fiercely to get out of my lease. I haven't slept through the night in months and i don't invite anyone over because its embarrassing, This place is disgusting.

First time on my dad app i notice bedbugs back in 2006.
I visit my dad few times a year at 1515 W Morse and i beg him to move to another place but is an old man who can afford to move and throw all he has and buy another furniture etc...I read on the internet that the building was infected since 2003.
There are more buildings affected by bedbugs but no one reported them so in a way is like all Chicago is infested.
The point is ....what we do? Throw all , move to another place , buy new furni
ture and after that to see that the new place is infested to?
Election time for mayor is coming in 2011 but i never heard from candidates that they gonna do something about bedbugs.

Me and my boyfriend was excited about moving into our first apartment together at 1515 W morse ave in 2008, but found out after signing the lease that the WHOLE building was INFESTED with BEDBUGS. The owner of the building did NOT, of course, say anything about the problem they had with these persistant pests, and one of the neighbors, who had been living there several years, told me that she had informed the landlord about the bedbug problem THREE YEARS AGO, and yet, he had not done anything ab
out it, blaimed it on the tenants. Many people who's still living in the building are too poor to move elsewhere, and I feel really sorry for them. I got out of my lease by contacting a wonderful woman at The Alderman's office who helped me, and also informed me about my rights as a tenant. If the apartment is not habitable, which it isn't since it got bedbugs, then all tenants can get out of their lease with the right documents. Also, all tenants can all come together and stop paying their rents until the landlord fix the problem, which he wont be able to since the whole building is infested. It's surprising how they are allowed to still rent out apartments, the landlord should be in jail. I lost a lot of money because of him and I had to throw away all of my furniture once I moved out. Please do not rent any apartments from the owner of this building, he has no moral sense whatsoever.

I arrived in the building at the beginning of august and the second day i was there a guy in the elevator asked me if I had bedbugs in my apt. The same day I saw a dead one on the floor of my apt, and staring being bitten. The exterminator came once but it was useless. The bugs are all over the building, especially in the laundry room, so that they spread in all apartment when people do laundry.
I am so overwhelmed.... ;(
