I moved into this house in December of 2007, renting a room from the landlord. A year later, her brother moved into the garage apartment and started complaining of bedbugs. Neither the landlord nor I were getting bitten and his complaints gradually tapered off. We just assumed he was actually dealing with fleas (he had 2 outside cats) or just overdramatizing. A year after that, December of 2009, he had long since moved out. My husband and I slowly started getting inexplicable bites on our arms.
By the beginning of February we were completely infested and couldn't lay in our bed for more than 10 minutes before the bites would begin. The new tenant in the garage apartment was having the same problem. Thankfully, it seemed to be limited to just the two rooms, as the landlord was fine.
In the middle of March we fogged the house. When we pulled the bed outside to spray it down, we found a nest about the diameter of my own closed fist hidden beneath the tag on the box spring. We soaked it in the spray we had and took it to the curb with the garbage. We brought my old bed into the room and set up. That night we were still getting bitten.
Here we are today, 4 foggings later and we've seemed to only make them more active with our attempts to extinct them. We've been chased completely from our bed and have been sleeping in our recliners (which are in the same room) for several weeks now. In the last several days they have found their way into and/or around my La-Z-Boy. After 2 spray downs, I'm still getting bites. I think our next step is to call the exterminator because I've had it with this uninvited guests!
