Started getting bites about 4 months, December 2010, after I moved in. Took 2 months, (Feb 2011) to figure out it was bed bugs as I was the only roommate with visible bites and Dr. told me it most likely wasn't bed bugs.
Currently using mattress bags and planning on moving. Will post back with update/strategies before moving out.
