The entire 1255 university complex has bed bugs.
We keep our apartment very clean so we have not encountered bug bites till now.Our neighboring apartment has had a heat treatment and we are aware of that. The apartment manager suddenly came for inspection in our apartment and they found a live bed bug somewhere near the window 2days back and have given us a notice to do heat treatment and pay $850 towards it.
Are we supposed to be held responsible for this? She has also given a similar notice
to our neighbors and asked them to pay as well this time.
The problem with this complex is they rent apartments for years and never do any maintenance or cleaning of the carpets,etc. Even if students stay for 10 years. I question their policies firstly.Also when we newly moved in two years back we got a clean carpet not a new one. They change it only when it gets really bad i believe. I know several apartments here having loads of bed bugs. I think they should clean and renovate this entire place.
They also blame us that we got bugs from india.infact i had never seen and known bed bugs back there..
We are seeking help from organizations right now to question about this.

Jan 2010-March 2010 - suffered dozens of bites
Cleared out by extensive vacuuming, bug bomb x2, and putting all my clothes through the dryer. As of Sept 2010 I have no more bites, but I do occasionally see a bug (about one every other month). In total I've probably only found and killed 10 adult sized bed bugs over the year.
