My partner and I have had a couple strange bites in the last couple weeks, and while inspecting the bed I discovered two live bedbugs: one nymph on the mattress and one adult in a screw hole in the wooden bedframe. The screw holes seem to be a nest - a few, including the one where I found the live adult bug, had characteristic fecal stains around the opening and on the inside. I sprayed the whole bedframe down with rubbing alcohol and am disinfecting the linens and pillows.

The adult bug was bigger than I'd imagined - kinda like a flattened tick, and when I grabbed it out of the hole with some pliers, it was still live and wiggling and full of blood.

Although adjacent and downstairs neighbors in this building have been fighting a losing battle with bedbugs over the last year or so, this is the first hard evidence I've seen of contamination in our apartment.

Recurring sighting of bedbugs on all floors. Management aggressively treating.

Infestation on 2nd floor spread to 3rd floor. Management knew about the infestation in the building but did not warn us until it had spread to adjacent apartments. Confirmed infestation in 2 apartments adjacent to mine, my apt is being fumigated prophylactically today (08-28-2008).
