There are no bedbugs in this building. They were contained to apts with adjoining walls. Mine do not touch anyones walls. When an apt. on my floor turned up with them they reacted within 24 hours and bombed the place w/ crazy chemicals that could be smelled throughout the floors. The tenenats were asked to leave for two days. All mattresses and books and clothing, bedding etc. was required to remain inside to prevent spreading!!! The furniture and mattresses were either coated in plastic a
fter the treatment or discarded once covered. This management company is on top of this sort of situation, acts professionally and quickly and is very well versed on how to handle them. They did not need to bomb every appt. with crazy chemicals as that is toxic to everyone. The walls are thick and virtually impenetrable so if/when the bugs come in they arrive with the tenants moving in. SF has 40+ types of gnats. We are in a Mediterranean climate. The Gnats go for any fruit left on counters-i.e. fruit bowls. Any food left on counters, etc. use your fridge and put bananas in double tight plastic plus a paper bag. or Don't buy them and leave them on the countertops!!! Another way of keeping the gnats away is to request no monthly drain rinse. The use non-toxic enzymes as opposed to chemicals and the enzymes can attract the bugs. There is no pressure or problem in requesting this. Do NOT leave nasty garbage under your sink- the garbage chute is right down the hall. Additionally there are monthly pest checks and if foundin between and you call the management they are treated immediately and you do not have to wait the month until the next treatment. I have been a long time tenant in this building and MAG Mgmt. does the best and fastest maintenance above and beyond any building I've ever been in. Except if the elevator goes on the fritz and then it might take a day to get the elevator company out which is no fault of MAG's. Finally if you find a neighbor has bed bugs or `signs' whatever that means, ask to have your place toxically bombed and they will oblige. Otherwise move out. Someone else will take your place and be more than satisfied with how the management handles vermin. I am not a representative for MAG just a happy tenant.

There are bed bugs in this apartment!
They need to spray all the units to get rid of them ASAP!
There is also a lot of fruit flies in the units and in the basement areas. I have to leave my drains closed and they will not enter my unit! Whats going on in this apartment unit?????? First all of a sudden we have cockroaches then ants now bed bugs and fruit flies!

Second episode of infestation this year. The owner followed up doing monthly pest control but given a bedbug's lifecycle, bi-weekly treatment would be more appropriate. Since new tenants tend to unload their property into the main hallway before moving it upstairs into their units, anyone entering the building may unknowingly transport these virulent hitchhikers. I was spared infestation only because I was notified by pest control my neighbors were infested and therefore took extreme precautions
. My neighbor was forced to dispose of her beds and furniture, so severe was the problem.

Spring/Summer 2009. Seemingly a small infestation. Reported to landlord, they treated aggresively. Seems clear for now.
