Two years ago (2006) Cubbon Apartment management closed the garbage chutes due to bed bug infestation, supposedly they said that the infestation was only on the first floor of the building. That was untrue, the bed bug infestation was reported on all floors of the Cubbon Apartment Building.
The management is very reluctant to discuss the problem, or to really address the issue. The Association requested that the entire building be fumigated, but the management company said that it would cos
t over $10,000 to do so. Please note that this building, 1044 Balmoral Road and 1035 North Park, Victoria BC are the same building with two separate addresses. Also, this is a seniors only building.
This infestation has been devastating to the elderly who do not have the funds, or the physical ability to move furniture, or replace infested furniture. And this does not even address the physical discomfort caused by these parasites to the elderly. Although the media reports that these insects do not carry any pathogens, I do not believe this claim. They are filthy creatures that puncture veins to get blood.
So much for banning DDT.
