This building is deplorable. There are rats, pests of all kinds, and structural problems. The owner of the building and the mangagers are unethical individuals. As one post read, it is because they are old. Well, it is because of who they are. Many apartments managers are old or older, and they do their jobs. Avoid this building if you want to sleep, and not live with bed bugs.

There seem to be a few less junk garage sales in the area , particularly Asian esl from 1255 Pendrell either understand basic english now that it is illegal for garage sales in our sacred Nelson Park or the management at 1255 Pendrell and acroos the street understand that 10 to a unit and midnight fire drills in not acceptable for regular west end people. Now if the people on the gravy trail collecting a government income cheque and living in the government subsidized housing selling pot would quit visiting our building and bringing in their bedbugs we would be able to live like normal west end residents that want nothing more than to live in these historic buildings and keep to ourselves. Some of the units in this buiilding that have been renovated and sealed off from bedbugs are sharp looking units. My rent is cheap but the renovated units are more expensive but still good value. Don is a friendly manager. He is old so so what if he isn't perfect treating demands of some people. He lives nest door and is around every day. I'm not planning on moving, nor do I have bedbugs. It is apparently a vancouver problem so I take preventative measures such as vacuuming couple of times per day (no big deal) and I don't have to bring in management.
If you see garage sales phone the police as these people are fronting fro selling infested clothing, furniture and it is illeal vending. Keep our Nelson park in the colorful state it is now rather than returning to bums, crackheads, asian garage sales, dealing, needles, shopping carts etc. Thanks for all the lobbyists that worked hard with input to drive these people out of our area and back where they belong (commercial drive and surrey)

Infested, and not being effectively contained. The building manager will lie to you about the problem. Beware.

my unit is bedbug free for now. Bedbug problem in Strathmore lodge is from all the subsidized housing renters in the heritage units around here. These people live with cheap rent and collect used second hand junk furniture from local junk sales. When they visit residents at strathmore lodge they carry the little pests into the building on their clothing. Management seems to have a game plan to deal with bedbugs here. When an infested unit leaves ownership guts the unit back to the bare walls and rebuild unit sealing all cracks. this at least quarantines the rebuilt unit.

*follow up* There are reports in the suites directly above, below, and beside this one. The penthouse and suites 503 and 603 are being sprayed individually, but they aren\'t spraying any of the immediatly adjacent \'bug free\' suites. Cleaning all personal belongings and moving out. Can\'t deal with this anymore.

Moved into the Strathmore Lodge apartment April 15th and was attacked by droves of the bugs. Turns out there was an infestation in that same suite only 2weeks previous, and the treatment done before the renting was insufficient.
Called in Vancouver Bedbug Control and they sprayed a few times. Moved back in May only to find the bugs were still there. This company seems to do consistantly shoddy jobs.
Have heard that VBC is in the middle of spraying the penthouse of the building as well.
Don't know how many suites are affected in total. The landlord is very accomodating, but the measures taken have simply just not been enough.
