instances, they didnt tell all the tenants, and the ones that did found out - were threatened if they leaked it to the city or to anyone else. So far I don't have any - but there are so many other problems with leaks, heating not on proper in the winter, possible mold, and again nothing ever gets fixed properly. Stay away and warn others to stay away. I am out in a month - but I just want others to spread the word and be aware. don't give your hard earned money to this company from the states just so you can be belittled and ignored and also threatened.

This building is horribly run and the management does the least amount possible!

If you do report something to an agency outside of the management of this building they hand you an eviction notice.

They use fear and intimidation to keep the residents quiet. Avoid theae two buildings at all cost it isn't worth it.

I have tried to explain to Joan that I have nowhere to go in multiple letters. I have no family
In Edmonton and Joan knows that I am originally from Ontario and I have NO one here except
Myself! I do NOT know anyone here in Edmonton where I could go while they are spraying.
I don’t know anyone else in Edmonton and have NO family here or anyone else! I am all
by myself!

I was told that they were going to come in from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM and then after that
I could not come in for 8 hours. So it would be 7:00 PM before I would be allowed
back in the apartment again.

I have sent letters on November 15, and November 16 2011 and today November 21 2011
stating that I had concerns about this and even offered them an alternative date of
December 17 to December 26 2011 because I was going to be away that time and that
they could have the whole apartment then and could do whatever they wanted while I
was away.

Yes they may want to get the bed bug issue under control but at the same time the management
cannot just throw some one out into the cold Alberta winter with nowhere to go! There
has to be some happy medium in between but the Landlord does not seem to see
it that way.

Obviously that was not good enough for the management at Yorkhouse because this morning
I get a notification slip saying that they were going to come in tomorrow to spray anyways.

Even though I explained to Joan that I have nowhere to go. So I reiterated this to Joan again
In a letter and she called me in the early afternoon. At which time she told me today that she
Was no longer dealing with Birch Fumigation anymore and that it was another fumigation
company that is coming in tomorrow and she told me to have the light switch covers
And everything pulled out from the wall.

And what they told me to do was to go get a hotel and as well keep receipts for any meals
That I had while I was gone and ask for reimbursement from the expenses. I told her that
I knew my landlord and that the they would not reimburse me. She then said that
I could file an application though The Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service
For reimbursement.

So I gave my landlord another letter today stating that if they wanted to come in still
Tomorrow to definitely let me know and that they could do that.
I walked down to the office and spoke with one of the other staff there who is
just as rude as Joan is. I do not know her name, but she does work for York House
and J.R. was also there as well who also works for Yorkhouse.

I handed them the letter and said that if they want to come in tomorrow that I will
get a hotel room for the time that they are fumigating and that I will ask for
reimbursement for all meals and for the hotel room. At that time they both said
that they will not reimburse me for the hotel room or meals or anything then I
said that I would apply to the The Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service

At which time they said fine that if I didn’t want them in the unit that they will not
Be coming in tomorrow. I told them I have NEVER said that they were refused access
to the unit at all and then they said that they will not be coming in tomorrow.

So now they have changed things around and are trying to blame this all on me
And that everything is my fault because I have nowhere to go during the 10 hours
They want to boot me out of my residence into the cold Alberta winter.

I mean these land lords are just horrible! I want this on record with

That this is going on I want to know as well what action I can take against
This land lord since they are now not going to spray my unit and are telling
Me that if I get infected that it is going to be MY responsibility to clean it up
And that I would be paying all costs.

If this is going to be the case then I want to move out BEFORE these idiots
get me infected if they are refusing to spray my apartment now.

They won’t work with me in any way and refuse to come in while I am gone
That would be too easy I think these people just like to fight with people!

are just looking to cause problems! I have had other issues with this
landlord before with not enough heat in the winter and problems pretty
well since I have moved in. I have had nothing but issues with this land lord
ever since I got in here over a year ago.

That is not fair what so ever. I have NEVER refused them access to the unit

These people are making it impossible to live here and are impossible to deal

I can contest though to all of what is being said on this site and I have seen pretty
Much all of that occur at this building.

clean up this problem.

And even though it states in our lease that tenant can be evicted for not allowing access to the suite for pest control or for causing an infestation of pests, the building owner was giving the tenant a chance before he was booted out.

In a follow up phone call the board of health said that the tenant finally complied with management and the problem was taken care of. And he was allowed to stay in the building.

If we are lucky he learned his lesson and wont be bringing home anything else that could bring along friends and cause that "nasty" feeling for the other residents. The only thing that should be condemned in this building is his suite.
