I stayed at the Red Roof on Feb 11th 2012.
Unfortunately I didn't notice anything while in the room, but on Tuesday the 21st I started noticing small red bumps on my arms. The next day they started to itch and more has shown up. Initially I thought I was having an allergic reaction to something that I may have ate or came in contact with. So I started doing some internet research and I came across some images of bed bug bites. While I know that the bites resemble any other allergic reatction,

they are in clusters of three "breakfast, lunch and dinner" and in a linear pattern. Everyone who stayed in the room has the bumps. We are from different parts of Ohio. We went out for dinner with a large group of people and only the people who stayed in the hotel room have the bumps. I believe that I took them back to my apartment as I actually caught one on the 25th. I do not have any other evidence in my apartment that they are there - ie the typical signs of black spots, old skin casings, ect. I have checked my mattress meticulously for the past few days. I know that I have them because a few new bumps appear everyday.
On the 25th after catching one of the bugs I called the hotel.I alerted them to the fact that I had stayed there and believed that I had been bitten by bed bugs. My information was taken and I was told that it would be inspected and I would receive a phone call from the manager. I called back on the 27th to check on the inspection and was told that someone was coming out today and I would be called later. The manager called me back a few hours later and left a voice mail stating that the inspector did not find bed bugs and there had been no other complaints about that room. I called back and the manager was not there so I spoke to the person I left my initial complaint with. I was told that an inspection had been completed and no bed bugs found. I asked who performed the inspection and said I wanted to see the report. I was told that they were awaiting the report and would e-mail it to me. Even though the inspector found no evidence of bed bugs the room was treated "just in case." I am awaiting the report and will post an update.

I stayed at the Red Roof Inn at 1951 Broad Avenue in Findlay, Ohio over the night of Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012. I woke in the morning to bedbugs on my pillow, and more bedbugs on my sheets.

I called management, and they came about a half hour later, looked around, said they had an infestation in December, but took care of it, and he took all the linens away. There was a laundry there for guests, so he gave me quarters for the dryer, and everything we had we put through the dryer, and also a

gain, upon returning home.

Come Sunday morning, Feb.19, we both awoke to bedbugs here, at home, despite our valiant efforts to kill them all.

We have talked to this Red Roof Inn, and they have denied any bugs, as well as denying they said they had them in December.

We have had to throw out all our bedding and buy new, and we had an exterminator in, and have also purchased the extermination sprays to treat yet again, and to travel with.

Red Roof Corporate has only said the motels are franchised, and we have no word back yet on whether or not they will reimburse us for our losses.

But I wanted to post this for anyone considering a stay there - AVOID! BUGS!~!

On a business trip to Findlay, my room mate and I stayed one nite on 2/16/12 at Red Room Inn on 1951 Broad. We woke up at 7:30 am. While watching TV and sipping coffee, my room mate found a bed bug on her pillow. We both freaked. We pulled the covers back and there were more. I checked my bed but there was nothing. I called the mgr immediately and about 8 am he arrived to inspect. While I was waiting for him the arrive, I started taking pictures. In a couple pictures I made sure my hotel k

ey and a laminated info sheet all with the Red Roof logo on it and Rm #. I was irritated that the mgr took 30 mins to get there. Maybe that's a reasonable response time, but it didn't seem like it to me. Keep in mind I have never encountered bed bugs, but have seen shows about them. BUT, since that incident I have educated myself. And, I learned that when you check a mattress for beg bugs, you have to check the seam creases as well as between the mattress and box spring and the frame. When the mgr was checking the mattress, he NEVER checked the seams and his enitre inspection took 5 mins. He was only in the room 5 MINUTES and supposedly did a thorough inspection and removed the linens from both beds. While he was in the room, he said they had an infextation in the whole place back in December and took care of it. My room mate and I proceeded to put all out stuff in the dryer for 30 mins and methodically segregated the treated items fro the non-treated item. We double plastic bagged everything and repreated the process at home before we ever brought anything into the house. It was a hellish process! Anything that couldn't be put in the dryer, we sprayed every surface. Even with all our efforts, I woke up Sun to discover bed bugs and now we continue to try to get rid of them. After the mgr removed the linens WE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. He would not return my calls. I finally contacted Red Rook Corp and filed a complaint. THis is a franchise location so they gave me his contact info, which I already had, and THEN HE WROTE ME AN EMAIL. He denied ever seeing any bed bugs or EVER having a bed bug problem. What he didn't know at the time he wrote the email was that I took pictures. I have proof. I called him today and said I wanted to give him an opportunity to back this situation right by reimbursing us for our loses. AND, to insure that he has taken the proper steps to exterminate the bed bugs so that no other guest has to go through this. He refused. So, here I am...making this public knowledge of the conditions of this hotel! I have also left a msg for corporate office to call me...I want them aware of my conversation with the owner.
