My 3 girlfriends and I stayed at the Latham Hotel over the course of the weekend, arriving on Friday, April 8, 2011 and left on Sunday, April 10, 2011. When we arrived, we checked our rooms for bedbugs, but did not find anything - however, the plastic bed bug cover over the mattress was ripped. We checked inside the cover and did not see anything. When I woke up Monday morning, I had a total of 4 bites, three of which were raised red welts on my lower back. I suspected bed bugs, as I never h
ad an experience with it in my home, but none of my other girlfriends seemed to have any bites. I checked with the doctor today, and she confirmed it was definitely bed bugs, and also confirmed that New York is currently in a pandemic of them. I am not sure if I brought them back home, as for the past 2 days I have not experienced any bites, but my doctor told me they do not feed every night and can sometimes take up to 6 days to hatch new eggs and to feed. As soon as I suspected though, I boiled all my linen and vacuumed my mattress. Please be careful when booking this hotel, and please make sure that the plastic mattress cover is not ripped.

My Girlfriend and I stayed at his hotel from May 7th to May 14th 2010. On our last night we actually saw two different bedbugs crawling on our pillows. (we know they were two different ones because we killed the first one - smashed it and flushed it in toilet) and then another one appeared on my pillow. So we killed that one too. Then we took off all the sheets and tried to find more but didn't. 3 days later my girlfriend's body (arms, legs, hands, neck, and part of the face) counts more than 20
0 bedbug bites, identified as such by our local doctor. I have nothing because I'm not allergic to the bites. She's still itching and more bites are appearing (it takes 4-5 days for the allergy to show up.). Now we're afraid that we brought some back with us ! We don't know yet, but, maybe we brought back some tiny beddug eggs with us in our dirty laundry or whatever ! We sent an e-mail to the Latham Hotel requesting a commercial gesture on their part but have had no response yet.
The Latham is otherwise relatively okay I guess.
