BE AWARE!!
We checked in on Sat Feb 19th in room 422 and my friend was smart and diligent to check the bed for bed bugs and thank goodness she did! She found a bed bug that crawled out on top of the white flat sheet!
My sister was brave and scooped the bug up in a plastic cup and we ran out of that room as fast as we could praying we didn't pick up anything as we were only in there for 5 mins. My friend and sister both
agreed that it was indeed a bed bug as they have both researched bed bugs on the internet just in case this should ever happen.
We presented the cup with the bed bug to the front desk and the lady was very nonchalant / indifferent to our finding. She said the hotel was sold out (not that we would have stayed) and she could not assist us in finding another hotel as it was very late in the evening.
This experience has taught us to ALWAYS check the bug registry and trip advisor before booking a hotel and check the beds once you enter the room.
A stay not to remember on 07/25/2010
7/24/10 Room 220 I was worried about staying at this hotel as I checked on the bed bug registry and it had one report of bed bugs last year. My family and I decided to keep the reservations and just check the room/beds thoroughly. I checked one bed and noticed the mattress and box spring were both encased in bed bug covers. This indicated that the hotel either has or had a problem with bed bugs. When I looked at the second bed, I lifted up the dust ruffel and walking on the box spring was a smal
l bug. My husband captured the bug and attempted to kill it, but it would not die. When we took it to the front desk, it was confirmed that it was indeed a bed bug. One employee asked if it was a bed bug and the other employee told him not to say anything about bugs too loudly. Thankfully, we did not have to haggle with anyone for a refund since we had just checked in and our card had not been charged. Needless to say, we did not stay even though they apologized and offered us another room. My advice is to check the bed bug registry first and even if your hotel does not have any reports, thoroughly check your bed and room for bugs!
Happier Now on 09/25/2009
As a follow-up to my post for Days Hotel. I went to the front-desk this morning, and asked to speak to the front-desk manager. To my surprise and delight the front-desk manager had been informed of the situation by the night manager, and had a copy of my posting to this site (bedbugregistry.com). She informed me that this was an unusual situation, and that she was upset that I had this experience. She said the hotel has a preventative service with Orkin, and that their housekeeping staff is trai
ned to look for any evidence of bed bugs. And, that even one bed bug is not acceptable. Also, that she was contacting Orkin to follow-up. I am very pleased with this hotels response to the situation. This truly can happen anywhere.
I will stay here again.

Not Happy on 09/25/2009
Days Hotel in Buffalo, NY by BUF Airport.Room 411 or Room 423 On Friday September 25, 2009 (12:45am) while sitting on couch in room 423 I felt a bite. Got up to get ready for bed, took off my shirt and noticed a bug crawling up the back of my shirt towards the collar. I thought it looked like a bed bug, wasn't sure so looked up bed bug images on Google. Was more certain now, had bug on Kleenex and noticed bug kept trying to crawl to a dark area. So, decided to squash the bug, and sure enough blo
od. Definitely bed bug. Called front desk and told them what happened, gentleman apologized and said he would be right up with another room key. Was moved to room 517, and he said he would inform his manager in the morning. The reason I list room 411 and 423, is I was originally in room 411, but was moved to room 423 due to an internet connectivity problem. Slept with all lights on, as what I read said that bed bugs like to come out in the dark. Hope none are hiding in my clothes or suitcase.
