On July 15th 2011 my fiancee and I ( Ashley Testen/Joe) stayed at the Residence Inn hotel in Elizabeth N.J. Next day both Ashley and I were itching our legs in the afternoon about 6 hours after check-out. At first we figured them to be muskitto bugs until my fiancee had these bites spread all over her body(over 100) in a pattern. She went to the Dr's office that Monday and sure enough the diagnosis came back as bed-bugs.
We reported the issue to both the Hotel manager and Marriott executive office. Unfortuentlly to our dismay Marriott kept denying our claim and did not take any ownership over this issue. They kept telling us that we can't prove anything despite having the Dr's note/pictures and a clear indication that the Hotel was the only venue her and I stayed aside from our house the entire month! Ashley had to throw away over $3,000 of clothing along with her suitcase, missed 3 days of work, and had enormous emotional/physical discomfert the entire time. Marriott will not admit or provide any resolution to us which is very unfortunate. Our next steps are to file legal action and report this chain to the better business bureau. Subdequentlly upon our research many similar claims in other Marriott properties were handles the same way!
