Greg MacLean - General Manager on 01/04/2012
As the General Manager of this hotel, I wish to offer an apology for the Hotel's lack of response to this guest. The gentleman mentioned in the post is no longer with the hotel, and given the timing of the stay I believe that his departure is the reason that this guest was not followed up with. Our hotel takes a very proactive approach to dealing with this national pest. Should we have any reason to suspect activity, we immediately place guest rooms out of service and ask that our reputable P
est Control Company inspect the room with the aid of one of their several trained dogs. After reading this post and reviewing our files, I have noted that an inspection was conducted on September 23rd in which the inspector and dog were unable to find presence of bed bugs in the room questioned. It is our practice to follow up with our guests and I am disappointed that the timing of our turnover prevented a call back in this case.
We believe that our best defense is a strong offense. Our proactive measures include mandatory training for room attendants, maintenance staff and managers to identify possible signs of activity. We conduct visual inspections as part of daily room cleaning and preventative maintenance program. And a key element of our proactive program is the quarterly guest room inspections conducted by our professional pest control company and their trained dogs.
We understand that we cannot always keep pests from hitching a ride in, but we can be diligent in catching them quickly and if needed, treating accordingly. I encourage future and past guests to reach out to me directly if they have questions.
Thank you.
BedBugged on 10/04/2011
Weekend of Sept 15, 2011. Two of us stayed at the hotel in order to run the Portland "Trail to Ale" 10K on Sunday morning. We arrived Friday evening and spent the next two nights in the left bed (it was a two-bed room). All our clothes/suitcases were on the other bed. A few days later, back at home, I noticed several itchy spors on my back, and my girlfriend had a some on her legs. They were in the classic "sets of 3" formation. We called the Clarion and made a report. It's been about 2 w
eeks and we're still waiting to get in touch with "Jonathan" who said he was going to do an inspection and get back to us. We looked everywhere and washed everything hot and didn't find and hard evidence except the bitemarks. I'm praying that nothing was brought back with us.
