With regard to the previous poster's itchy sores around the ANKLES, the Des Plaines Wildlife Reserve and the Midewin National Tall Grass Prairie are in the vicinity. If you walk around any of those places - as I have - there's a good chance you'll get no-see-ums or chiggars - as I have. The first time it happened to me, I blamed it on a holiday inn. Then I discovered that my brother had the exact same bites. We hiked together, but we didn't stay at the same hotel. I was wearing shorts and had
bites up to my knees. Thinking back, if it was bed bugs, I would have had bites all over my body. The previous poster, here, only had bites on the ankles. Again, if the place had bed bugs, I would expect them all over the body, not just the ankles. I would hate to see a small motel get a bad report because someone forgot to use insect repellent while walking through some grass somewhere. I would also hate to see someone get bed bugs for staying at ANY hotel. But since this report has itchy sores only around the ankles, I'm not convinced that the motel is to blame in this case.

...visited Channahon in early September on my way to buy a car...spent a night in the Manor Motel, Upper floor, (I don't remember room #), woke up with many itchy sores around my ankles...here it is, weeks later, I have red angry-looking scars...
