I had booked an event at this hotel, then read this report. I contacted the hotel who were able to provide me with documentation from a pest inspection and extermination company that they hired only days after this posting was made. The report states clearly that the company found no bedbugs or evidence of bedbugs. The hotel have received no further reports of bed bug findings. To me, I am definitely encouraged about how quickly they acted when they received this bedbug report, and how thorough
their response has been. I am extremely comfortable booking a large event at this hotel.

This is a followup to my earlier report on August 31, 2011, regarding our stay in Room 4516 from August 25-29. I identified several bedbug bites on myself on August 30 and August 31. Often bites do not become apparent until several days following the actual bite, so I was hopeful that the bites had occurred in the hotel and that we had not transported bedbugs to our home. But better safe than sorry. On September 2, 2011, I had our entire home inspected by a certified dog that works for America
n Pest. The dog is certified as being capable of alerting to as few as one bedbug or one viable bedbug egg. The dog did not alert to anything in our home EXCEPT the bottoms of the two suitcases that we had taken to Atlanta and stored on the carpeted floor in the corner of Room 4516.
I notified the hotel by e-mail. As yet I have received no response, but let's be fair: it is a holiday weekend.

My husband and I stayed at the Emory Conference Center Hotel in Room 4516 from August 25-29, 2011. We chose the hotel specifically because it had not been listed in the Bedbug Registry as having bedbugs. Relying on the registry, we did not inspect the bed thoroughly by stripping it and flipping the mattress. I did notice one very small dark spot on the bottom sheet, but I was not too concerned. My mistake!
We returned home on August 29. On August 30 after getting up I noticed two bites on
the left side of my waist. Today after getting up, I noticed three more bites on the right side of my waist. I am regretfully concluding that, in fact, room 4516 of the Emory Conference Center Hotel may well have had bedbugs, and I am now concerned that one or more may have hitched a ride home with us. I have not yet seen a bedbug, but I have not yet gone through the process of ripping apart the bed in which my husband is still sleeping as I write.
We will continue to use the Bedbug Registry, but from now on we will also always thoroughly inspect hotel beds even in "safe" hotels!
