January 9th-January 14th, 2013.
My husband and I arrived at the Madonna Inn the evening of January 9th. When I awoke Thursday January 10th I had 6 bites, 3 on my arm and 3 on my stomach. I am sensitive to mosquitos, so I thought I was bit by a mosquito the night before. When I awoke Friday January 11th, I had more bites, approximately 20. I showed the bites to a friend, and she mentioned maybe bed bugs. I informed the hotel and spoke with the manager. He said he would send a pest inspector t
hat afternoon. I was out all day. When I returned to my room, I spoke with the manager. He said the pest company did not find any bedbugs. The manager offered to switch my room. I said no, since he said there were no bedbugs. I stayed in the room until Sunday January 14. Every day I woke up with more bites, not sure where they were coming from. When I got home, I couldn't stop itching and looked at what insect bites look like, thinking maybe it was an infection or some weird insect. My bites were classic for the bedbug pattern, 3 bites fairly close together and the size and shape. I wanted to report this in the hopes this does not happen to someone else. I am still not sure if I brought any bedbugs home with me. I have been treating all my belongings accordingly, but time will tell. I wish I would have been there for the pest inspection.

My friends and I took a trip to San Luis Obispo to stay at the Madonna Inn during the weekend of September 11. The hotel is a historical California Landmark and we were so excited to stay there. It wasnt until getting ready for bed that we decided to check the beds for bed bugs. The Inn appears to be a nice place and we didnt have any doubts but bed bugs have been big in the news lately so it wouldnt hurt to check. To our horror, upon pulling back the covers in multiple beds, bugs scattered arou
nd. We couldnt believe our eyes! Thinking back, we wish we would have taken a picture (although at 2 am, I guess it wasnt too surprising that we didnt think of it). The front desk gave us the option to stay at another local hotel because they didnt have any availability but at that point we didnt want to stay in any hotel! The front desk said we would get our money back and we drove all the way home to Orange County. Now the Madonna Inn has come back to us saying that Pest Control came out and didnt find any bugs. So we are being called liars. As I said before, bed bugs are quite an epidemic right now and seem to affect many hotels and estabilshments, no matter how nice they are. Had Madonna Inn handled our issue with class and simply took care of the problem, I would consider them taking control of the situation and would not be reporting them on this site. Instead they are denying it...beware to any future travelers.

The claim from "DisgustedGuest99" is completely false and malicious.
At the Madonna Inn we take all guest complaints and comments seriously….especially one of this nature. It is unfortunate that the Pest Control company was unavailable at the very early morning hours when the guests brought this matter to our attention. To adhere to our policies and prevention procedures when a “pest” issue is brought to our attention we always call our Professional Pest Control Company who are educate
d in identifying and finding bed bugs. After a thorough inspection the Pest Control Company found the room to be free of bed bugs. This has been confirmed by the many happy guests who have stayed in the room since the misunderstanding. Madonna Inn takes preventative measures with routine inspections of our facility in order to stay bed bug free!

My friends and I traveled to the Madonna Inn, hoping for a nice getaway on the weekend of Saturday, September 11, 2010. When we returned from an evening enjoying downtown San Luis Obisbo, we decided to check for bed bugs, as the story had been in the news lately and we wanted peace of mind.
We first checked a downstairs mattress (the room was large and 2 levels) and found some sort a brownish residue in the folds of the mattress. We decided to check another bed upstairs. As we lifted back the
sheets, a bed bug scurried across the side of the mattress, into a little crevice. We couldn't believe it - we didn't even have to look for them! We called the front desk to inform them, and they quickly told us of another hotel we could stay at in the area...but instead we chose to make a 4 hour drive back home (at 2am) because we were too disgusted with the situation.
