I Stayed in this hotel/ hostel on September, 02, 2011 at the request of my girlfriend. The place was disgusting to begin with so I couldn't sleep and I didn't want to spoil the trip so I didn't say anything. I Looked at reviews online while sleepless in bed and discovered reports of bed bugs. At about 4:30 am I escorted my girlfriend to the bathroom (yes communal bathrooms, BARF). Stayed the evening of October 23rd, 2010. Had been here before a few times and never had any issues. Woke up around 5am to find bed bugs crawling all over the sheets and a few scattered about on the walls. Brought the evidence to the front desk where they offered a refund for the room. Ended up disposing of my bag and clothes on site. I didn't want to take the risk of bringing them home with me. Stay at your own risk.

woke up at 1:30 am with bites and found 2 bedbugs on sheet 8/12/2010. They switched me to a different room immediately and did not find any other bugs. The place is pretty sketchy though- won't stay there again.

It is 5:19am and I just found a bedbug in my room after waking up with itchy legs. I caught it in a ziploc bag for positive identification and am about to go downstairs to see what they are going to do about it. Room 312.

I stayed at that hotel for three nights in March 2010. I got home and after some weeks, my apartment was infested. I have had to throw away almost everything I own, and it has pretty much ruined me. STAY AWAY FROM THAT PLACE!!!!

Responding to previous posting. Like most properties, the 500 West tries to be a responsible host and offer the cleanest accommodations and best service to all guests. Our property has a contract with Terminix, our professional pest control company, and with their assistance, act in a very responsible manner in dealing with bed bugs. The spartan conditions (nothing like the photos), dirty carpets, and no effort to clean bathrooms when it mattered (during the night and early morning) could have been tolerated, but in the unprotected mattress of the bed lurked bedbugs that left me with numerous bloody, itchy bites every morning after the 3 nights during Nov., 2007, I was there, with marks that lingered far beyond my stay. This hasn't happened to me at any other logding in the US. I would avoid this hotel at all costs. Inciden

500 West Hotel on 12/01/2008

Stayed in room 520 during late November, 2008. Girlfriend had over 30 bites (wrists, lower back) when she woke up the last morning we were staying there. Stay away!
