Anonymous attendee of a writer's conference held Aug 2-5 2013 at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza on 08/07/2013
Stayed at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Aug 4 and 5 2013 and woke the first night with some bites on ankels and backs of legs. Was unsure what they were, thought perhaps it was an allergic reaction to something else. After the next night, more red raised bites and terrible itching. showed to a couple of friends and they urged me not to say anything as they felt it would raise a problem for the convention we were attending at the conference. Now I am home and my legs are swollen and beat red wi
th itching. I have an appointment to see a dermatologist as I'm afraid I'm having a horrible reaction now the number of bites. This hotel looks so upscale and the price is certainly not cheap at hundreds of dollars a night. I am infuriated and angry at myself for allowing myself not to speak up for fear of ruining a conference for 1200 plus other members. I have to wonder how many others had the same problem but were told to not say anything so it would not impact the conference. Instead, I'm getting sick and I'm in pain.
I do not understand others claiming that the hotel has bedbugs one year after they visit! Really? If I saw bedbugs, I would report it that very minute to management. I highly doubt all these reports of bedbugs.

I stayed at this hotel three nights for a business trip (during April 2011). Upon leaving the hotel I had more than 150 bed bug bites on my body. Both the hotel & my doctor confirmed the incident.
I would inspect your room if you are staying at this hotel.

If they had a problem in the past it seems they corrected it.
Very clean hotel.

Stayed during the summer of 2010 and developed characteristic straight lines of itchy bumps on my ankles and legs. I got a few bites on my shoulders as well. Although the amenities were comfortable, these parting gifts were not. I would caution future guests against staying here.

I stayed at the Century Plaza for a corporate convention last month in September. We all raved about the cleanliness of the hotel. I travel a lot, personally, and my colleagues and I meet annually for this conference. I'd definitely stay here again ... and, no, they don't have bed bugs for heaven's sake! Get a grip people.
