Extended Stay Brea on 08/30/2013
This motel's address is the same as the one I stayed in on 08/29/13. Now it's called Extended Stay America, Brea, CA.
We had booked a non smoking room, but the first thing we noticed was that the room was saturated with cigarette smoke. I began to strip the sheets and looked at the mattress. I immediately found one bug underneath the mattress that looked like a bed bug. It was moving pretty slow as if it hadn't fed in a while. I tried to capture it with a toilet paper to show it to managemen
t, but I inadvertently ended up squishing it to pieces. Though I can't be 100%, I've see bed bugs in person before, and I'm pretty sure it was a bed bug. When I told the front desk clerk, she never blinked an eye and moved us to another room on a different floor. I checked that room thoroughly, and it looked clean and without bed bugs, so I stayed. But in retrospect, I should have left. Obviously, the problem hasn't been resolved 100%.

I stayed here July 25th, 2010 and it seemed like a decent hotel in a good area.
However, I woke up at 2:00 in the morning to find my pillow covered in bed bugs. I flipped the cover back to find that the entire pillow was infested with bed bugs, and I also saw them crawling on the chair in the corner.
I packed up and left at 2 am to find another hotel. The Holiday Inn in Placentia, CA was clean with no problems.
I will add that the management did give me a full refund and indicated th
at they were going to have the problem taken care of.
